Backend Developer

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Backend Developer to join our team. As a Backend Developer, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of our server-side web application logic. You will also work closely with our front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.

We are particularly interested in hearing from you if:

• You have at least 1 year of experience in backend development
• Decent understanding of Node.js and its core principles, as well as common design patterns and libraries
• Experience with databases such as Redis, MySQL or PostgreSQL
• Experience with RESTful API development and integration
• Decent understanding of authentication and authorization mechanisms, as well as security best practices
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Bonus points if:

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS
• Experience with GraphQL

What are some of the things you'll be doing?

In this role, you will be expected to:

• Develop and maintain server-side web application logic
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic
• Design and implement data storage solutions using databases such as Redis, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
• Develop and maintain APIs to support both internal and external services
• Implement security and data protection measures to safeguard the application and its users
• Troubleshoot and debug issues that arise during development, testing, and deployment
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code that adheres to coding standards and best practices
• Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in backend development and related fields
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to other developers

What does the hiring process look like?

1. Introductory phone call ~ 15 minutes
2. Assessment ~ Take home + 60 minutes discussion
3. Final interview ~ 45 minutes
4. Offer stage

What will an offer consist of?

• A competitive annual salary of between MYR48,000 - MYR84,000
