Introduction

The National Cancer Society of Malaysia, a not-for-profit cancer organisation dedicated to providing affordable cancer medications to verified patients, partnered with our software development agency to create a streamlined and accessible e-commerce platform. The goal was to improve the distribution of subsidised cancer medications to patients in need. This case study outlines the challenges, solutions, and results achieved through our collaboration.

The challenge

The existing distribution system was inefficient, resulting in significant delays in delivering medications to those in need. Moreover, the patient verification process was labor-intensive, prone to errors, and time-consuming, making it difficult to ensure that only eligible patients received the necessary assistance. Lastly, many patients in remote and underserved areas had limited access to both the medications and information about National Cancer Society of Malaysia assistance programs, exacerbating the already challenging circumstances faced by those seeking treatment.

The solution

To address the multifaceted challenges, our software development agency developed a comprehensive e-commerce solution. This encompassing approach involved designing and building a user-friendly e-commerce platform accessible through web and mobile applications, enabling patients to browse, select, and order subsidised cancer medications seamlessly.

Ecommerce Platform Development

To address these challenges, we designed and developed a user-friendly e-commerce platform that allowed patients to browse, select, and order subsidised cancer medications online. The platform was accessible through web and mobile applications.

Inventory Management

We implemented an advanced inventory management system that tracked medication availability, expiry dates, and restocking schedules. This ensured that The National Cancer Society of Malaysia could efficiently manage their medication supply.

Geolocation Services

To improve accessibility, the platform used geolocation services to connect patients with nearby The National Cancer Society of Malaysia distribution centers. Patients in remote areas were also provided with shipping options to receive their medications at their doorstep.

Patient Verification System

To streamline the verification process, we integrated a secure and automated verification system. Patients were required to submit relevant medical documentation, which was reviewed and approved by authorized personnel. This reduced the potential for fraud and errors.

The results

The implementation of the comprehensive e-commerce platform for The National Cancer Society of Malaysia yielded several highly positive outcomes. Firstly, the platform significantly improved the distribution of subsidised cancer medications, reducing the time required to deliver medications to patients and ensuring timely treatment. This streamlined process not only enhanced the efficiency of The National Cancer Society of Malaysia operations but also instilled trust and transparency by reducing errors in the patient verification process through an automated system.
